Can coolers are the most efficient purchase in the whole shop by weight. They come flat, they weigh nothing, a dozen of them takes up less room in a case than one tumbler, and they cost a fraction of anything else that goes in a hand. If the weekend involves a flight, a pool or a boat, this is the drinkware page to read first and the tumblers are the luxury.

The one thing to get right is which can they fit. A standard cooler is cut for a twelve-ounce can and a slim cooler is cut for the tall thin ones that hard seltzer comes in, and the two are not interchangeable: a slim can in a standard sleeve slides around and a standard can does not go into a slim sleeve at all. Read the word slim on the pack against what the group actually drinks. Neoprene keeps a can cold longer than foam does and survives being sat on, which happens more than anyone plans for.
